Serious Incident Response Scheme (in Residential Aged Care)
The Serious Incident Response Scheme module has been developed for all workers in residential aged care, including personal care workers, nurses and managers. It provides a clear overview of the requirements of the Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS), (to be) introduced in April 2021, and further rolled out into 2022. While nurses and managers should also be familiar with the literature provided by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, the course provides a detailed introduction to the definitions of serious and critical incidents, how a serious or critical incident should be reported internally and externally to police and the Commission, and what happens after a report is made.
