Are you a community or home care providers looking to up skill your team in mandatory training and to meet CPD requirements? Have you or a team member ever been in a situation where something is not right and you suspect abuse, but aren’t sure what to do about it? Team members will be able to articulate how to identify elderly abuse in a community/home care setting and what to do once the abuse has been identified. The target audience is any Community/Home Care Worker who undertakes their work in a client’s home.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the definition of elder abuse
- Identify incidents requiring report to Department of Health and Ageing, and Police
- Identify the situations considered to be neglect, abuse (physical, emotional, sexual), exploitation and reportable assault (physical, sexual)
- Apply policies and procedures to ensure reporting of all reportable incidents (including reportable assault)
- Understanding your role and responsibilities in promoting a safe and secure home for clients
