Welcome to the Epilepsy and Seizure Support (High Intensity Support Skills Training Series) module.
If you are working in the disability sector, it is highly likely that you will be supporting someone who has Epilepsy and may witness a number of seizures in your workplace.
This module provides a basic introduction to Epilepsy and how to support someone who has the condition.
By the end of this module, you will be better able to:
- Understand Epilepsy and its relation with the brain
- Identify the types of seizures and triggering factors
- Manage Epilepsy and support the participant
- Provide first aid, including the administration of midazolam, in the event of a seizure
This module offers an introduction to the theory. It is advised that the learner complement this with a practical demonstration.
