This course of learning is designed for all persons working with consumers who will, over time in their current setting, require palliative care giving. An insight to anticipatory planning and dispelling some preconceived myths about the end of life care is also incorporated in this course.  This course is suitable for both Aged Care Facilities and Home / Community Care Workers.

  • Develop a better understanding of what Palliative Care means in Aged & Community Care
  • Dispel the myths associated between Euthanasia and Palliative Care
  • Describe the various types of Palliative Care that may be delivered
  • Gain greater insight into the legalities of whom may make decisions on behalf of a consumer should they no longer be able to do so
  • Discuss in context the legalities of end of life documentation as expressed by a consumer
  • Gain insight into anticipatory planning in advance
  • Discuss the need for debriefing and emotional support for care workers and family
