This module provides a basic introduction to bladder and urinary device care theory.
By the end of this module, you will be better able to:
- Describe the basic components of the urinary system and the complications that affect it, requiring the use of urinary devices
- List the types of catheters and other urinary devices and the indications for their use
- Explain infection prevention and control requirements relating to urinary device care
- Recall the requirements for monitoring and recording urinary health
- Describe the psychosocial and holistic care of persons with a urinary device
- Identify common issues with urinary devices and apply appropriate troubleshooting techniques to ensure the comfort and safety of the client
This module offers an introduction to the theory. It is advised that the learner complement this with a practical demonstration.
