By the end of this module, you will be better able to:
- Describe the basic anatomy of the digestive system and why enteral nutrition is required
- Identify the professionals involved in the care team and their roles
- Outline differing enteral nutrition tubes and routes for administering enteral nutrition and hydration
- Demonstrate proper care techniques for the stoma site
- Analyse risks associated with administering enteral nutrition and medication administration through a gastronomy tube
- Apply correct positioning to maintain airway safety, avoid choking risks and pressure area care when administering enteral nutrition
- Discuss the impact of associated health conditions and complications in association with enteral nutrition
This module offers an introduction to the theory. It is advised that the learner complement this with a practical demonstration.
