Serious Incident Response Scheme (for Home and Community)

$59.00

This module has been developed for all workers and supervisors in Home and Community settings. It provides an introduction into reportable incidents, how they should be reported, and what happens after a report is made.

While nurses and managers should also be familiar with the more detailed guidelines provided by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, this course provides a detailed introduction into the definitions and types of reportable incidents; how they should be reported, and what happens after a report is made.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the reasons why this legislation is needed
  • Outline the context in which the Serious Incident Response Scheme will be introduced, and why the legal requirements for reporting to the Commission have expanded.
  • Define reportable incidents and explain what these incidents include
  • Identify the roles of various workers in reporting serious incidents
  • Explain the role of the Commission and the service when incidents have been reported
  • Explain the role of workers when their actions or alleged actions have been included as part of a report to the Commission
