  • Using the STOP and WATCH early warning tool to describe what you see
  • Assessing and prioritising risks
  • Working within the scope of your role

After completing this module, you will be better able to:

  • Recognise behaviours of concern in people you support, including those living with dementia, and describe possible causes
  • Identify and respond to triggers that make behaviours worse
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies to keep the person and others safe, while respecting dignity
  • Determine what to do if behaviours escalate and safety is at risk, including where restrictive practices may be required under the law

Module 3 of 3:

Trauma Aware and Healing Informed Care in Home Environments

After completing this module, you will be better able to:

  • Explain what Trauma Informed Care is and why it is important
  • Identify the different types of trauma and their impact
  • Outline the key principles of Trauma Informed Care
  • Apply culturally safe, trauma-aware, healing-informed care by securing consent, using accredited interpreters, respecting identity and preferences, recording actions, and escalating concerns.
