Dementia 1: Understanding Dementia
This series of learning courses about living with Dementia is designed for all persons working in or providing services to Aged Care, Community care and Home care environments. The series is designed to assist in understanding the process of the disease known as Dementia, providing a general overview of Dementia including anatomy, signs & symptoms, diagnoses and expectations in the stages of care. The dignity of care throughout this series is reiterated within each course per Accreditation and Quality Standards within these fields. This is the first of this series and focuses on understanding what Dementia is and impacts on the community.

- Understand the impacts of Dementia on family carers
- Recognise common problems for family carers
- Be able to provide basic advice and recommend common solutions
- Understand the difference between family carers and formal carers
