Donning & Doffing of PPE
In this module, we are going to delve deeper into the topic of correctly putting on (donning) and taking off (doffing) personal protective equipment; focusing on why we wear PPE and indications for PPE use.
The aim of safe donning and doffing is to ensure the person does not contract the infection and ensures the person does not transmit the infection to others.
Infection control and prevention refer to evidence-based procedures and practices that, when applied correctly, can prevent or reduce the risk of transmission of infectious illness to all stakeholders within the organisation including aged care staff, clients, residents and visitors.
The Department of Health Guidelines outlined in this module should be followed at all times when donning and doffing PPE. These are based on advice from the Infection Control Expert Group. These guidelines may change from time to time in order to reflect current best practice recommendations
