Shown by the Aged Care Royal Commission to be more widespread than the zero tolerance we would expect, this course is designed for all care staff in assisted Living and Residential Aged Care facilities to feel more confident in:
  • Identifying cases of elder abuse
  • Feel confident in responding and reporting cases of suspected elder abuse through the appropriate channels

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the definition of elder abuse
  • Identify incidents requiring report to Department of Health and Ageing, and Police
  • Identify the situations considered to be neglect, abuse (physical, emotional, sexual), exploitation and reportable assault (physical, sexual)
  • Apply policies and procedures to ensure reporting of all reportable incidents (including reportable assault)
  • Understanding your role and responsibilities in promoting a safe and secure home for clients
  • Learn the responsibilities of Aged Care Facilities in the event of a missing resident
